The Pink and Black Gala is one of the signature Fall Fundraiser events the Madra Cochrane Foundation hosts for the “Images Program” at MedStar Washington Cancer Institute. The Images Program is a branch of patient resources that is mindful of the personal and emotional needs of each cancer patient it sees. This component is often overshadowed by the much needed research contributions and is not supported by federal funding. For the programs continued success it relies heavily on private donations.
Please join us for an elegant evening that will include a hosted bar, dinner, music, raffles and a live and silent auction. The Pink and Black Gala will support our mission of funding the Images Program at MedStar Washington Cancer Institute. The proceeds raised will go directly to provide cranial and breast prostheses, hats, scarfs, counselling and more items that help rebuild cancer patients self-image and self-esteem which is often lost while going through treatment.
The Madra Cochrane Foundation was formed by Madra Cochrane as result of several life changing events. While still a teenager, she lost her mother to cancer and in a span of less than 10 years also lost her sister to the dreaded disease. She became the caregiver to her sisters children and little did she know that shortly afterwards, she too would be diagnosed with breast cancer. These series of events caused her nephew, now son, to question if she would die too. At which time, she made a promise to him that she would not die. It was that promise, her determination after losing the two most important people in her life, and the care she received through the Images Program over 15 years ago that helped her beat cancer.
Together, we will continue to support the mission of helping hundreds of cancer patients with their personal and emotional needs.
